Our nearest town, historic Las
Vegas, NM, 20 miles away, has several
grocery stores, as well as an excellent
health food store, Semilla, and
in summer, through to autumn, a
Farmer’s Market. Las Vegas
has a Carnegie public library, is
home to New Mexico Highlands University,
has many original stone buildings,
including a 200 year hotel and an
utterly charming traditional Spanish
central plaza, with a gazebo.
Vegas also has some nifty coffee
houses, a great bookstore, 2 movie
theatres plus a wonderful drive-
in (open in the summer), interesting
jewelry, clothing, antique, herb
and music shops as well.
Rockmirth is about an hour and
a half from the famous art centers,
Santa Fe and Taos. We are connected
by a beautiful drive to the delicious
scenic and art filled high-road
through the mountain villages of
Dixon and Truchas, where you may
visit any number of art galleries
and crafts shops and tour the studios
of the resident artists.
We are also a short drive from
the Kiowa Grasslands in the Canadian
River basin, an utterly gorgeous
wildlife and birding sanctuary.
If you do not have a vehicle, and
come by shuttle from the Albuquerque
Airport, or by train, we will take
you to shop for groceries when we
pick you up in Las Vegas. We also
provide once a week trips to town
for groceries and laundry.
